When should I apply a GoNano treatment to my roof?

Accepted Answer

The most important aspect when applying GoNano treatment isn't the age of the roof but rather the current condition of your roof. You will benefit greatly from applying GoNano Shingle Saver to a younger roof (up to 7 years old) and our GoNano Revive or Bio Boost product to older roofs (from 7 to 25 years). The sooner you apply Gonano Shingle Saver, Revive, or Bio Boost, the sooner you benefit from GoNanos anti-aging properties.

How much does a GoNano treatment cost?

Accepted Answer

Our treatment is approximately 80% cheaper than replacing your roof with treatments starting at $0.85 SF. The price will vary depending the product used and on the age, condition of roof, pitch and number of stories.

Would you do repairs before applying the product to the roof?

Accepted Answer

We will inspect your roof free of charge during our initial meeting.  If we determine minor repairs are needed such as soft washing, nail pops, or loose flashings, we will include that in the quote before proceeding with any application of the product.  If more detailed repairs are needed before our treatment, we will discuss that with you and provide you with a detailed estimate.

Should my roof be cleaned or softwash before any application that seals it up is applied to the surface?

Accepted Answer

If your roof is dirty beforehand, we strongly recommend softwashing before applying GoNano.  This is a service we provide and will discuss with you before application of GoNano.   Once GoNano is applied, soft washing afterwards will no longer be effective at removing stains, and the bleach formula used in soft washing could eventually impact the integrity of the GoNano application.

What is the warranty period on GoNano technologies?

Depends on the product but for Shingle Saver (for asphalt shingles), it is up to 15 years. Revive, Concrete and Wood Saver are up to 10 years. The treatments are guaranteed for a period that can vary according to the type and condition of the surfaces at the time of installation. For Shingle Saver & Revive, the warranty is fully transferable in the event of the sale of your home.

What is nanotechnology?

Science at the nanoscale. One meter is equivalent to one billion nanometers. To put it in simpler terms, 1 Nano particle is 30,000 times smaller than a human hair! Nanotechnology is science, engineering and technology performed on particles ranging from 1 to 150 nanometers, which makes it infinitely small.

Does the technology change the appearance of the roof?

Yes, for the better. The treatment helps restore the original appearance of your roof, while modifying and improving it.

Does the chemical make the roof less or more flammable? Or, no impact?

Accepted Answer

No, nanosilica does not change fire susceptibility, as tested by UL Standards under Fire standard UL790 (Class A shingles remain Class A. See UL Standards Fireproofing Standard 790)

Does it protect from the sun?

Accepted Answer

Yes! All of our products reflect UV rays to limit heat absorption, slowing aging and preventing discoloration.

Does the application of the product void the warranty from shingle manufacturers?

Accepted Answer

No, our treatments do not void any of the current shingle manufacturer warranties as our product enhance the properties of the asphalt shingles as opposed to abrasive products that can damage them. GoNano has undertaken a comprehensive legal assessment to confirm this for the leading shingle manufacturers such as IKO, Owens Corning, BP, and GAF.  GoNano is so confident in the quality and performance of their products that they will honor a homeowners shingle warranty if anything should happen after the application of the GoNano product.​

How long has nanotechnology been around?

Several centuries. Even though nanoscience is fairly recent, in the Middle Ages nanoparticles were used to dye glass. Today, we use it in a scientific way to benefit from the superior properties of nanoparticles across multiple applications.​

What effect would rain have on the technology?

Accepted Answer

None. Once the treatment has penetrated the first layer of roofing (about two hours after application), rain makes absolutely no difference.

Would GoNano protect my concrete from salt and/or chlorine?

Accepted Answer

Water is one of the primary culprits behind concrete damage. GoNano's concrete sealant protects against water and moisture intrusion that can weaken your concrete, especially during freeze-thaw cycles. Our sealers also prevent contaminants like salt and chlorine from penetrating and deteriorating your concrete surfaces. This is particularly beneficial for foundations and surfaces exposed to de-icing salts.  Additionally, our nanoparticles penetrate 23cm into your concrete pores and protect it from the inside out, without having a slippery surface.
